Shen Jie made a flawless debut in this benchmark role of Romeo. His dancing was superb, with effortless soaring leaps, assured partnering, and immense expressiveness. His acting was convincing in every aspect of the character - the light-hearted camaraderie with his friends, the fierce swordfights, and above all, his passion for Juliet, conveyed through every line of his body."

沈杰生於中國浙江，並先後於浙江、廣州和香港演藝學院修習舞蹈。2007年加入香港芭蕾舞團為群舞員， 2013年晉升為獨舞員，並於2016年成為首席舞蹈員。他曾在包括《唐吉訶德》、《胡桃夾子》、《睡美人》、《糊塗爆竹賀新年》、納曹‧杜亞陶的《卡薩廸》、《新中國芭蕾─青蛙王子》及《風流寡婦》中擔演重要角色；並憑《紅樓夢─夢紅樓》的寶玉榮獲2014年貝諾瓦芭蕾舞大獎提名。2015年，沈杰於伊斯伯格的《木偶奇遇記》世界首演中飾皮諾丘，以及《羅密歐與茱麗葉》中分別飾演羅密歐與馬克提歐。

Shen Jie

Shen Jie was born in Zhejiang, China and studied there, in Guangzhou, and at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He joined Hong Kong Ballet as a Corps de Ballet member in 2007, becoming Soloist in 2013, and Principal in 2016. His repertoire includes leading roles in Don Quixote, The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Firecracker, Nacho Duato’s Castrati, The Frog Prince – A Ballet Chinois and The Merry Widow. He was nominated for the 2014 Benois de la Danse as Pao Yu in The Dream of the Red Chamber. In 2015, Shen created the title role in the Company’s world première of Per Isberg’s Pinocchio, as well as alternating as Romeo and Mercutio in Rudi van Dantzig’s Romeo and Juliet.
